Memphis, TN baby children family high school senior wedding photographer bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello!  Welcome to this little corner of my world where I will share recent sessions of newborns, children, families, and weddings from the Memphis, TN area (although I do travel on occassion!).  Don't be surprised if you find a random stray thought or two... Most of all, sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of life God has given us.  Have a blessed day! ~Cindy

Memphis Family Portrait Photographer

This was my first time photographing this family, and I really enjoyed our session together! This family heard about me through some of her work connections. Mom knew it was past time for some updated family photos and individual photos of her son. We met up at the Botanic Gardens for this session. Many people may not know that my favorite color is pink, followed by blue. When this family showed up in blue, I was so happy. I think they like blue more than I do, and I didn’t think that was possible. This little guy’s smile was so infectious. I can see why all of his teachers just love him at school. Thanks for a great session X Family :)

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Memphis Maternity and Baby Portraits | Sneak Peak!

I am soooooooooooo behind on blogging!! As most photographers know, it takes quite a bit of time to resize images, post them to the blog, and then write a blog post about these fabulous sessions! I am still working on blogging some of my amazing fall sessions and weddings (hides head!). I usually have a timeline of how sessions get blogged, and I really don’t like to deviate from that process. However, at one of my sessions this past weekend, one of my loyal clients mentioned to me that she had never been on the blog. WHAT?!?! I find that so hard to believe since I have been photographing her and her family since 2007. Yep, since 2007! I could go back and check, but it’s more fun to let loose this week and post a little sneak peak of some FABULOUSLY fun sessions I have been blessed to photograph this past week. These images are DEFINITELY teasers, and readers probably won’t see the full sessions of these until months later. After all, I still have November, December, and January sessions left to blog :) .

First up: Check out this GORGEOUS nursery! It belongs to a beautiful baby girl, Miss MLF. Her parents and grandparents did everything in this nursery all by themselves! Love love!

Next, check out this little guy. Ironically, he lives right around the corner from Miss MLF. I drove out to Memphis to take his newborn photos, and I think he was right at 7 days old in this photo. So precious!

My next session took me out to Germantown, TN. Here’s another client I have been photographing since January 2008. Mom and I always have the best time and conversations together. She’s always up for some of my crazy ideas. The funny part of this story is Miss L had lots of outfits ready for our session, but who could resist an empty laundry basket and a cute baby?

And, my 2007 client and friend! We had such a crazy, fun time at our maternity and family session in Eads, TN on Saturday. The whole family had me laughing so hard I almost cried. Sometimes I have an idea inside my head, my brain is working overtime, and my mouth can’t function properly. It’s a good thing these guys like me, and we can all enjoy a good laugh!

I’m so incredibly blessed to work with and photograph so many amazing clients and friends. Thank you all so much for new support, continued support, and referrals. It’s my absolute joy to capture these moments for you. God is so good!

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

My Testimony

This past Sunday at church, our pastor asked members of the congregation to share their testimony during the week. To be honest, I’ve probably written this testimony several times during the week trying to get it just right. What words do I say, how do I say the story, and how much detail do I put into it? It’s such a personal story, and as such, one I want to be perfect when I tell it.

My salvation testimony occurred when I was a fourth grade little girl. I can vividly remember the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart. With my heart pounding and tears pouring down my face, I walked down the church aisle. I remember people praying for me. I was so happy about the decision I made. Soon after, I was baptized. I still remember the white dress I was wearing when I was immersed in the waters.

Though I was a fourth grade child when I received my eternal life, I believe it’s the trials and tribulations I’ve experienced in my life that contribute to my testimony as well. How did I rely on God in the trials? Did I see that He was carrying me? Did I see that He sent angels along the way to help me? Did I see that He was molding me and shaping me to be what He’s known I would be all along? More importantly, did I pray and seek His peace, protection, and will?

My lifelong Bible verse has always been Jeremiah 29:11-13. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I have always clung to this verse, especially during those times of doubt and confusion. I now have a peace about these major trials I endured as a child. I understand that some of my questions may not be answered here on earth. But I am confident that God has used these circumstances to give me my gifts of patience, humility, and humbleness. Through these trials, I have come to understand that God is going to use them for His glory. I’m still a work in progress, and I believe God’s still working on my testimony and me.

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Germantown Family Photographer

I just love big families! I love it when someone contacts me to photograph a large family unit. I think these photos are so important to document. Though times may change, it’s so important to recognize the importance of capturing families, just as they are, in that moment in time. How special it is to look back at photos hanging on the wall over time. For this session, Mr. and Mrs. H. decided the men would wear white and the women would wear red. We took these photos at a nearby neighbor’s home. Don’t you just love the rustic barn and country landscape? Thanks for letting me document this moment in your lives H Family!

Blessings and peace,

Memphis Family Photographer at Botanic Gardens

Next up is an adorable family, and this session was my first time meeting them. Aren’t the boys just precious? Mom had a specific look and feel in mind for the photos, and I adore everything about it! The bow ties are enough to make anyone smile! Since this session, I had the opportunity to see the family at another function, and one of the little boys said to the mom, “Hey…isn’t that Miss Cindy?” Ok…that totally melted my heart. I just love my clients. So blessed! Who knows…maybe I’ll see them again at another party :)

Thanks for a GREAT session R Family!

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Downtown Memphis Family and Children’s Photographer

I have been photographing S since he was just an infant. His parents have this fantastic home on Mud Island, and it’s one of my favorite locations to use when we meet up for photos. This time, mom and dad decided to join in on the portrait fun and visit some of their favorite downtown Memphis locales for their portrait session. I love that! S’s very FAVORITE pastime is riding the trolley. If you stop and think about it…having a trolley line is a pretty unique Memphis feature! Although there are several images I loved from this session, my personal favorite is the family image on the bridge with the city in the background. They really are such a happy family. Thanks for another great session B Family!

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Memphis Spring Photos

It’s no secret…spring is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I love the warmer temperatures, and I marvel at how God uses nature to bring color and beauty back to life on earth. I feel like it’s God’s visual reminder that dark days won’t always last. Spring just gives me fresh hope and a smile as I look around and see the barren trees and brown grass replaced with new buds and vibrant colors. I always look forward to scheduling spring photo sessions for my clients where we can both enjoy the beauty of life that God has given us!

So, it’s that time! I have scheduled several sessions already for the spring. If you want to get your family, baby, senior, or child’s session on the calendar for spring, now is definitely the time to book. Weekend appointments book the quickest! We are blessed to have several different types of spring flowers in Memphis:

1. tulips/daffodils
2. azaleas

If you’d like a specific type of flower background, please let me know this when making your appointment as their blooming periods vary. My contact information: cindy@cbtphotography.com or 901-854-8836

I look forward to seeing you this spring!! Enjoy a sampling of the photos taken last spring in this blog post…

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Sweet Baby H’s Passing

Today’s blog post is a sobering reminder that we are not immortal. If you are like me, you want to believe that small children should be “exempt” from facing death. Shouldn’t they get a chance to grow up, see the world, and have children of their own? It’s one of those moments I want to cry out in frustration, yet I know in my heart of hearts that’s not the plan God has in this story or any story that doesn’t have the “perfect” ending to life as we mortals envision it.

Sweet baby H passed away yesterday after a life long illness. I had the privelege of meeting her and her family on a sunny December day at FedEx Family House. I truly believe that my meeting them was a God arranged moment, and it’s one that I will never forget.

It would be so easy to get angry at God or question His motives. WHY DOES A BABY HAVE TO DIE??? To be honest, I have done this in my own life during major health trials of a loved one. But, I keep learning that God’s people will suffer. He will test us; He will draw us closer to Him. Even last night’s lesson at church in the book of James–so appropriate. We must have faith and hope that God WILL bring us through any circumstance. One of my favorite quotes: The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not sustain you

I may not understand the death of a little child like sweet baby H, but I am confident that God is a God full of love, and His ways are higher than our own. Often times in life we must have faith, pray, and go to God’s word in situations like that of sweet baby H. Please join me in praying for sweet baby H’s family.

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Collierville Family Portrait Photographer

Next up features a marvelous first grade teacher at one of the local elementary schools. My son was blessed to have her as his teacher last year, and I’ve often wondered how we would have survived the year without her amazing patience! Without going into all the details, my son just went through a rough spell, and she never faltered in her patience. She is so great with children, and she always challenges them. She’s also extremely organized. Yes, I really can go on and on about her!

J really wanted to have some updated family portraits. In fact while we were at our session, she thought it had been about ten years since the last family portrait. That’s way too long! I was so glad I could capture these for her. I hope I have given her some photos to look at and smile because our family will definitely remember her and smile when we think of her. We just had the best time at this session. We certainly laughed a lot; I’m surprised we accomplished so much! J has a great family, and I know she feels so blessed. I’m confident J and her family will continue to remain strong as a family unit no matter what comes their way.

Thanks again for everything, J! You are such a blessing to our famiy!

Blessings and Peace,
Cindy
