Our Memphis photography style

Our Memphis photography style

I wanted to take a few minutes to explain a little bit about my style as a photographer. This is true whether you are a high school senior looking to have your portraits made or if you need newborn photos, children’s photos, family photos, or wedding photos. You name it.

One thing I often hear when clients hire me is that my photos don’t look overprocessed or over glamorized. What this means is a child’s or student’s eyes don’t look like zombie eyes when he/she looks at you on the screen. They are true to life. I don’t believe in overprocessing my photos either. Folks… I’m creating a portrait. It’s timeless. It’s not a trend that will go out of style with the next new thing that Photoshop introduces. These portraits will live in your home forever, so why should they look like something that was a trend happening way back when. I also think that skin should look like skin. It should have some texture to it. We can look nice, but not so smooth it looks fake. That’s just MY STYLE.

I also take time to discuss options. Options like locations. What scene best fits you and the look you want hanging in your home. What clothes best represent you and your style. For high school students, we have a consultation that involves colors and how clothes fit. This session is NOT making students look so different they aren’t recognizable. I have my own high school senior, and I certainly want to remember her as WHO SHE IS. Do I want her to look her best. Yes, but there is a fine line to looking good and going over the top.

Our custom photo sessions are just that. They take place at a location we have chosen. We go to more than one scene. We capture multiple expressions. In short, I try to capture the true spirit of the family, child, high school student, and yes, even newborn.

It’s all real. It’s as real as the heart of the photographer and the artistry I use to capture the uniqueness and absolute true you. There’s nothing fake here or overdone. At the end of the day, it’s a portrait that represents Y.O.U.

Just a few words from my heart!

Blessings and Peace!
Cindy

Thought for the day:
Psalm 139:17-18
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be outnumbered. I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand. And when I wake up, You are still with me.
