Sanctuary on the Square Wedding: Kelly & James

Sanctuary on the Square Wedding: Kelly & James

Well, I’m not really sure how to begin this blog post. How about…THESE PEOPLE ARE AWESOME? Yeah, that would be pretty appropriate. James and his family are one of the first people I met when my family started at GBC. He’s an amazing musician, and he leads children’s worship there. His mom has a heart of gold, and I’m so blessed to call her one of my friends (and thanks for hanging out with me at the youth trip this summer!). I can go on about the amazing talent the Lotts have, but I would be writing all day! 🙂

Well, to make a long story short here in the South, Kelly called me up one day and said she would really like to talk to me about photographing her wedding. Now, I really hadn’t had the opportunity to meet Kelly yet. Boy, was I in for a treat! It’s so easy to see why James and Kelly are a perfect match. They have been dating for YEARS! I was honestly speechless when Kelly asked me to photograph her wedding day because I know they know so many talented artists in the community (so, thank you James and Kelly, for allowing me the honor!)

Kelly and I mapped out a timeline for her wedding day. I met her and the girls at the Sanctuary on the Square in Collierville. Can I just say…this church is one of my FAVORITE churches to photograph a wedding! This church is also special to Kelly and her family. Kelly and her girls were full of energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement. I always love to see bridesmaids SUPPORT and UPLIFT the bride on the wedding day, and they really did that for Kelly.

It’s always tough for me when I photograph a wedding and a parent has left his/her earthly home and moved on to his/her heavenly home. In Kelly’s case, her mom had gone on to be with the Lord. It was tough. Her aunts, sister, and Holly stepped in and filled the gap as best as they could. Let me tell you..there wasn’t a dry eye in the room when Kelly was finishing up!

James and Kelly wanted to arrange a private moment before the ceremony. They didn’t want to see each other, but they did want to exchange a letter. So, we coordinated it, and I love what we came up with here. (Side note: I DID NOT DRAW THE HEARTS HERE. PHOTOGRAPHERS, PLEASE DO NOT DEFACE PUBLIC PROPERTY! OK…RANT OVER) James’ expression is just perfect. I love how Kelly looks lovingly down at James.

When Kelly and I met to discuss her wedding, she asked for two specific things: 1. She wanted me to capture James’ face when she walked down the aisle. 2. She wanted me to wait outside for them as they exited the church. Man…aren’t those some of the best photos?!?!?

Kelly’s reception took place at her father’s home in Eads, TN.

It was the best ending to the best day. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LETTING ME SHARE IT WITH YOUR FAMILY. PS. PLEASE GO SHOW THESE PHOTOS RIGHT NOW TO GRANDADDY LOTT. I sat next to him at a Chamber meeting, and he still hasn’t seen them! *wink*

Love you guys!
Blessings and Peace,
Cindy

Thought for the day:

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
